Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Africa, Toyota's Hilux has received a hefty power boost since its last significant revision in 2005. These days, you can order one with a 3.0-litre diesel with 169bhp on tap lurking under the bonnet, although most people in search of a workhorse will probably favour the 118bhp 2.5-litre.

A precise gear change and better-than-you-might-expect handling are among Hilux's plus-points, and although the 2.5-litre can be a little slow away from rest, it soon gets into its stride. Unfortunately, the unladen ride is nervous on occasions and engine noise can be excessive. Off-road Hilux attacks demanding terrain with a vengeance, and is rarely defeated. Seems a pity then that the cab interior offered by the least-well-specified variants is so uninspiring.

Hilux exudes durability and residual values should be healthy.
