JAM OFTEN baffled by some of the claims made by hauliers in your pages and wonder if you believe them yourselves.

In CM 13 November issue, Duncan Kiley of Owens of Llanelli says the 40p increase on Severn tolls will increase his costs by £30,000 a year. Pardon me for being pedantic but do his trucks really make 67 crossing a day six days per week ( referring to the 400 quoted in the story]? Assuming they do. any 12-year old will tell him that 40p x 400 x 52 = f..8.320.I would be interested to know what formula he's using.

Many hauliers also seem unaware of the law restricting HG Vs to 56mph. Or are the Welsh, along with the Scots, Irish and Dutch exempt from that?

What a great idea for a feature in your mag: Hauliers who don't think the law applies to them.

I won't hold my breath waiting.
