Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CHESHIRE POLICE’S CV unit has seized more than 100 HGVs since it was set up two years ago, says the police authority’s chairman.

The unit’s primary focus is drivers’ hours violations and vehicles in a dangerous condition.

Constables Adam Morall and Dave Clegg check tachograph records and measure vehicles’ weight before handing them over to VOSA.

Since the unit’s creation in June 2009, the oficers have handed out 1,400 ixed penalty notices, 848 pro hibition notices and immobilised or seized 111 HGVs.

More recently, the unit used a hired HGV on the M6 to spy on drivers breaking the law in their cabs.

Margaret Ollerenshaw, Cheshire Police Authority chairwoman, says: “The Cheshire Police CV unit team may be a small one, but it punches well above its weight in taking lorries that are potentially dangerous off the roads, as well as dealing with drivers who may also present a danger. The work they do is really impressive.”
