Conidence among operators in November continued its slow climb away from September’s alltime low. A total of 70% of respondents said they were either very optimistic or fairly optimistic about the prospects for their business over the next 12 months, while 28% said they were either not very optimistic or not at all optimistic, giving an optimism score of +42 – a three-point improvement on the +39 of October, and a substantial improvement on September’s low of +33.

Hire and reward hauliers are, overall, the least optimistic bunch, with the optimistic/not optimistic split being 58/38; the split for logistics and contract distribution irms was 82/19, while for own-account operators it was 73/24. • The next Trucking Britain survey is online now.
