The two municipal companies look set to follow Taff Ely Transport of Pontypridd which was recently bought by the former National Bus Company subsidiary, National Welsh.

National Welsh managing director Brian Noton told Commercial Motor this week that letters have been sent to IVLowner Rhymney Valley Council

and Cynon Valley Council.

Other companies are already reported to be showing interest in IVL and Cynon Valley, and Noton says that he wants to be ahead of the queue.

IVL is known to be making strenuous efforts to put together a survival plan, centred around pay cuts. Even if the National Welsh plan is successful, however, it has to get Welsh Office approval.
