I Specialist distribution cornany Bucks has been bought y transport and business serices group Hays. The move nds several months of speulation as to who would take ver the Derbyshire firm.

Bucks, which specialises in hop and office fittings, furriiire delivery and other highalue distribution, has two diviions (distribution and contract ervices), 10 depots, 100 vehiles and 400 employees with a irnover of 216 million.

Its contract services arm, 7hich provides dedicated garient distribution facilities for larks and Spencer, will be come part of Hays Distribution Services, headed by managing director David Winkworth.

The rest of Bucks will form a new Hays operating division with Bucks managing director Bill Collins as divisional managing director.

Hays chief executive Ronnie Frost says the Bucks acquisition will add prestigious firms such as Barclays Bank and Allied Carpets to its customer base.

Hays Distribution Services is also to spend £4.5 million upgrading its fleet, including new trailers for a dedicated distribution operation on behalf of a southern-based retailer.
