PLANS to assemble Japane! Hino lorries on Merseysid have hit a setback, bt Dublin-based J. Harr (Assemblers) has not given u its plans to sell the lorries i Britain.
Informed industrial source say that the plans for a Livel pool plant have been abar doned in the face of heav British trade union oppositior saving Harris £15m.
Against suggestions that th Merseyside plan was an elabc rate publicity hoax, report now suggest that Harris ma co-operate with Northern IrE land distributor Ward an Sugenor to establish an Ulste assembly operation.
The exact nature of such development is not yet clea but Ward and Sugenor partne Tom Stewart has admitte that sales to Scotland hay been given strong considera tion.
