I HAVE a caravanette based on a 1966 Karrier ambulance, chassis type KAL 3023, which is very similar to the present day DodgE Walk-Thru van. The power unit is a Perkins 4-203.

Has any reader any advice or experience to offer regarding fitting a fiveor six-speed gearbox, preferably with overdrive, in place of the presen. four-speed one which has very widely spaced ratios?

A reasonable amount of modification to mounting brackets, bell-housings, propshafts, etc, would be no objection.
