• The telephone number of the head office and the London and Home Counties divisional office of the Freight Transport Association is now 01-686 0731. Despite the Heckmondwike competitors being on home ground the day was a good one for the Widnes depot from which came the overall winner, Mr. F. Cleary who, besides winning his class (B), went on with colleagues Mr. C. Elliot and Mr. J. Cain to win the tear; award. The standard of driving was fair, considering that no competitor drove his own vehicle.
This first contest was organized by Doug Bolton, Harold Wood's safety training officer, and it is likely that many more will follow..
