Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Road Transport Industry Training Board has now revealed the training grants which it is prepared to make in respect of drivers taking part in the 1969 Lorry Driver of the Year competition. Although the Board's "grant year ends on July 30, it is understood that the rate of payment set out below will apply to participants in all the regional eliminating rounds that have been held this year and the National Final on September 7.

The basis of grant has been altered slightly and is as follows. Normal driver training rates of grant will be paid, subject to these stipulations:— 1. The competitors must be receiving normal wages during the period claimed.

2. The training and attendance at the competitions must be covered by a formal programme.

3. The amount claimed will be limited to three days up to and including area eliminating contests, and one additional day for participation in the Final.

This means that, where an employer can show evidence that proper training was given for at least two days prior to entry, he will be able to claim three days training grant for an eliminating contest; if a driver goes forward to the Final there will be an extra day's grant, making four in all. Where no training has preceded the contest, there will be grants only for the days of the actual co mpetition(s).
