THE British 'Transport Commission's I revenue from passenger, freight. parcels and mails by road, rail and ship were more than /211m. lower in the first 28 weeks of this year than in the corresponding period of 1957. London Transport's road services dropped more than 19m., whereas their railways gained only £663,000. Even the Commission's provincial and Scottish buses produced 1751,000 less revenue.

Figures just issued by the B.T.C. show that total receipts from passengers, freight parcels and mails by road, rail and sea amounted to 1352,527,000 in the first 28 weeks of this year. compared with 1374,048,000 a year ago. London Transport's road-service revenue totalled 123,137,000 (132,301.000 a year ago) and their railway earnings 113,235,000 (112,572,000). Provincial and Scottish buses produced 130,890,000 (131,641,000).

NEW E.R.F.'MODELS COMING •

NEW models which he hoped would increase sales were foreshadowed last week by Mr. Dennis Foden, chairman and managing director of E.R.E. (Holdings), Ltd., at the company's annual meeting. Manufacturing methods had, he said, been improved, which would enable the company to sell at competitive prices without sacrificing quality.

Trading conditions last year were difficult, but E.R.F. maintained their share of export business. Relaxation of credit restrictions should increase the home market.

REVOCATION CASE POSTPONED

AN inquiry to have been held by the West Midland Licensing Airthoriiy, on Tuesday, to decide whether to stispend or revoke a contract-A licence held by Maurice James and Co., Ltd.. Mile Lane; Coventry, was postponed. Mr. Maurice James was stated to be ill. No new date for the hearing was fixed,
