NAIS-STATEMENTS on an application al for a contract-A licence led to the appearance of two hauliers at Leeds magistrates' court last week. Fines totalling £101 10s. and £213 7s. 6d. were imposed on Haigh's Tours, Ltd., Bulay Villas, 13ulay Road, Springdale, Huddersfield, and Jack Lum, Brickfield Garage, Shay. Lane, Oldfield, Halifax, respectively.
Haigh's, who .pleaded guilty to three charges• of making false statements under Section 34 of the Road and Rail Traffic Act, were fined £10 on each charge, plus £1 witnesses' costs and £10 10s. advocate's fee. Under Section 1 of the Act they were found guilty of aiding and abetting Lum and were fined £60 on 12 charges.
For aiding and abetting Haigh's on the first three charges of false statement, Lum was fined £75, plus £2 12s. 6d. witnesses' costs and £15 15s. advocate's fee. He was also found guilty under Section 1
