Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Derbyshire tippermen who went on strike at Tarmac last October have been told they will have to pay their own legal costs if they want to continue their fight with the construction firm (CM 1-7 Aug).

Last week 20 drivers were told by the National Hauliers Association it had run out of funds.

It said it could no longer financially support their fight against Tarmac's claim for £500 corn

pensation as payment for Tarmac's injunction against them which ended their strike.

The NHA solicitor has written to Tarmac asking it to drop its claim, and the NHA members are calling on other road transport associations to help.

"I can't afford to pay the £500 let alone legal costs," says Tarmac driver Terry Bailiss. "It's so unfair — we didn't do anything wrong, we just wanted to defend our rates."
