Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A new device called Autostop is claimed to protect diesel engines from costly damage from oil pressure, excessive cooling water temperature and faulty braking systems and give warning when either falls below set safety levels.

It is mounted on the dashboard and shows a coloured light in the case of a failure: amber for continued overleaf oil, red for brakes and green for water. In addition an audible warning is given by a highpitched buzzer. A fuel valve solenoid automatically cuts off fuel to stop the engine after a few seconds warning. A floormounted override push-button allows the driver to get out of trouble or off the read. This override facility ensures that, although Auto-stop is automatic, the system is always under the complete control of the driver.

If a vehicle develops faults in either oil or brake pressures when at rest, Autostop prevents starting of the engine.

An optional extra flasher unit for the brake lights, which operates when the fuel valve solenoid is closed, is offered.

The unit is housed in a robust, black moulded case and installation is simple and inexpensive, A version of Autostop is available for use with petrol engines, providing similar alarm and protecvon facilities.
