• The Metropolitan Police are launching an intensive security campaign during October. There will be four meetings at police stations in London, and 3,000 commercial vehicles will carry striking publicity material. There will be poster reminders at over-night vehicle parks and in transport depots throughout the Metropolis. The Vehicle Security Comrnittee of the RHA is giving the campaign its full support, and operators are being asked to put reward slips into the pay packets of their drivers at least once during the month.

The campaign is timed to coincide with the onset of winter and the long dark nights. Mr. Jack Brown, the Atlas Express Company director, who organized the vehicle security display at -The Lorry Driver of the Year" finals, said that the interest shown by operators and drivers in the forthcoming campaign was greater than expected. "I am encouraged to think that we are all becoming more security minded,he said.
