• Southfields' latest Fleetloada Ultra curtainsidei which debuted at the IRTE's recent Scottish show in Edinburgh, has been built wi ferry work and long international journeys in mind.

It was seen alongside two other tri-axled trailers in BR Scottish Trailer Rental colours; a Schmitz reefer usit a Tri-ox ozone-generating system; and a Craven Tasker 12.2m TIR reefer.

New design features inclw Z-section side raves which protect the stainless-steel buckles from side-scrape damage. Aluminium side flashings form a rubbing strij along the cant rail line, and t using a stepped rear floor member the doors can also be inset.

Recessed cam locks prote( the bracing bars from rear impact. Floors are of 32mm Lamideck composite panels; door fittings are stainless stel and Powermesh curtains can be tensioned from each end.

Southfield's fabricated tri-axied chassis has its forward cross-members set a 460mm centres as far as the rearmost axle, then moved closer to 300mm, to withstan damage by forklift.

RO-R axles and Flexair lif lower suspension are used as standard, together with Skidcheck, Anchorlok sprim brakes on two axles and auto-slack adjusters all roun■
