By Joanna Bourke UP TO 98 PRODUCTION and logistics staff could be made redundant at drinks manufacturer AG Barr on the back of proposals to outsource its logistics operation and to close its Mansfield,Nottinghamshire, site.

As part of an £8m-10m operations overhaul, the maker of IrnBru hopes to increase capacity at „ its Cumbernauld site in Scotland e . 2 in order to absorb the current work from the Mansfield factory and g distribution centre.

2 On 6 November, the company entered a consultation period with 98 employees. It has been proposed to close the site in early 2011, with the commencement of outsourced logistics during 2010.

An AG Barr statement reads: "As the final step in the integration of the Rubicon business, and to allow for future growth, it is proposed to commence discussions with thirdparty logistics companies with a view to establishing a third-party-operated central distribution hub for the south of the country.

It adds: "This proposal would mean ceasing our current in-house storage and distribution operadons at the Mansfield site and the exit from existing Rubicon third-party logistics operations," VOSA records reveal AG Barr has an 0-licence for 234 vehicles and 89 trailers, of which 15 vehicles and 10 trailers are registered to the Mansfield site.
