Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SCANIA will sell more commercial vehicles in the UK in 1983 than ever before. Anders Siewertz, managing director of Scania (Great Britain), boldly stated this at the Scottish Show.

He also said: "There is a strong possibility that the UK this year will be the largest market in the world for Scania".

The collapse of demand in the Middle East, especially Iran and South America, is mainly responsible for the promotion of the UK to Scania's number one slot but the GPR range launched here over two years ago has been particularly successful.

Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders figures to the end of October show 1,571 Scania trucks have been registered compared with 1,328 for the same period last year, an increase of 18 per cent. Market share rose from 3.5 to 3.6 per cent, taking it ahead of Seddon Atkinson.

The charge-cooled 330hp variant of Scania's 11-litre engine which was introduced earlier this year clearly has strong appeal for many British operators. More than 90 per cent of R112 tractive units sold here are now specified with that engine.
