Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

According to analyst Mintel, the recession had less of an impact on eating out trends than at first feared. However, as with all sectors, there were winners and losers. Fast-food chains have found their flexible and inexpensive offers popular with cash-conscious consumers. Ethnic restaurants, without the resources to change quickly, came under pressure, as did the pub groups, which remain in a saturated, highly competitive part of the market. Sandwich shops and the emerging casual part of the market (Nando’s, for example) have done well. In the period from 2005 to 2009, the UK fast food market (including takeaways) grew 11% to £8.18bn, while restaurants (including pubs and hotels) saw growth of 9.3% to £19.9bn.
