• Small hauliers and the own-account sector lost further ground in the primary distribution area this week as Wincanton takes over work in the DIY and industrial gases sector. The gains have led to reduced work for hauliers working for Do It All suppliers and a ballot among Air Products drivers over whether to accept Wincanton as their new boss. The Do It All cost-cutting move is expected to bite hard by next spring. The bulk of the parcels carriers and hauliers carrying products direct from the 250 suppliers to Do It All's stores will then be replaced by a £20m national distribution centre owned by the retailer, but operated by Wincanton.
