MILK tanker drivers are this week considering a pay offer that will give them an extra £7.30 a week — but they have not been offered parity with haulage drivers.

The men were threatening to withdraw from negotiations over their claim for parity with other drivers but now they are preparing to take their case to the Central Arbitration Committee.

A £7.30 rise would be within the Government's 10 per cent pay guidelines but a rise which would put the men in line with other drivers of similar vehicles would mean an extra £2 a week on top of that.

This week Dairy Trades Federation industrial relations director Nicholas Finney told CM that the union had recommended acceptance of the £7.30 offer but he added that there had been no agreement on terms and conditions of employment. The spokesman told CA, "What we are worried about that people are being connei We are worried that young( members of the industry wi look to this outfit as an easi( way of getting their Certificat of Professional Competence.'

And CIT director Donal Locke said that there was littl or no scope for another bod in transport.

Brig Locke said that he Iva doubtful about the qualifiu tions of the organisers to ru such an organisation.

Recognition

Mr Cooper said that the ITIN will be asking for recognitio in Britain and Ireland and the. it will be looking to set up a: educational system that wI standardise on a European o EEC scheme.

But another worry for th other organisations has com from the Transport Managen. Journal. GTM spokesmai Graham Simons said that bon: fide managers were offerel free copies at the 1976 Corn mercial Motor Show.

Many managers signed ul for them and have sinc■ received unsolicited invoice: charging them for the copies.
