[3404] Sir,-As a regular reader of The Commercial Motor, I was pleased to see, in the issue of April 28th, your remarks On public-service vehicle examiners. How can we expect some of these individuals to know the vital parts of coaches and buses if they have been pushed into these positions over the heads of practical men?
I know of individuals who have served their apprenticeships at engineering, also others who have served their apprenticeships in the coachbuilding trade and who have been turned down in favour of unqualified One_ examiner whom I know personally was a draughtsman.in a shipyard. What can he be expected to know of passenger vehicles? How can we expect an efficient body of men if such procedure be allowed to go on-?
I do not consider_ it right.,to. have men of the type mentioned dictating to coach owners about their vehicles.
From myown experience I believe that really practical examiners would, quickly realize the requirements referred to in the regulations.
