Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Editor, THE COMMERCIAL Moron.

[3400] Sir,—I desire to bring to your notice what I consider to be a deplorable instance of British marketjug methods.

This department requires a 00-80-ton hydraulic press suitable for general garage work : seven concerns were invited to submit quotations, with the following result:—

Four concerns, including a famous British maker of hydraulic presses, offer American presses.

Two concerns offer unsuitable British presses : one of these two offers an American press in, addition.

One famous British maker of hydraulic presses has not troubled to reply, although written to twice.

Is it any wonder that unemployment in this country Is far worse than it need be?

To me it is remarkable that American manufacturers can market in this country standardized presses of suitable type, whilst British manufacturers cannot even do the same thing in Britain.

The department is still open to receive quotations. B. ENGLAND, General Manager, St. Helens Corporation Tramways.

St. Helens.
