Power Vacuum Cleaner 1-1 A HIGH-SPEED power vacuum cleaner, the Advance Roamer, claimed to be capable of cleaning up to 50,000 sq. ft. of floor area an hour, is now being marketed in this country by Floor Treatments Ltd.

It will deal with paper, wood chips, cardboard cups and metals, and various models are available. Two of these clean a minimum 2-ft. 8-in, swath on each pass, others clean a minimum 3-ft. 6-in. swath.

The collector bag has a capacity of 11 Cu. ft. and connects to the blower housing with a snap-lock fastener; it is fitted with a heavy-duty zipper and a 27-sq. ft. filter area. Roller bumper wheels mounted on each side of the intake housing are designed to prevent damage to the machine and walls. The air impeller blades are made of steel—these shred collected litter to give improved compaction in the collector bag.

Two-speed Drill ATWO-SPEED drill and power unit called the Double Diamond has been produced by Stanley-Bridges Ltd. The fast speed of this drill-2,950 r.p.m.—makes it suitable for work such as drilling holes in metal of up to f-in. diameter and for paint stripping, sawing, polishing and spraying. Its slow speed —980 r.p.m.—is for jobs such as drilling wood of up to 1-in. diameter, metal (Fin. to fin. diameter), concrete and masonry. Speed changes can be made instantly while the motor is running without damaging the helical gears or motor.

An overload cut-out is fitted and there is also an extra bearing on the rear end of the chuck spindle to ensure true running.

ATRAILER designed to carry a four-ton road roller has been developed by S. Willetts (Fabrications) Ltd. The chassis, constructed of rolled steel sections with 1f-in.-thick floorboards and sides filled in with sheet metal, is mounted on rubber Flexitor suspension units with overrun type brakes: a heavy-duty pintle-type coupling is provided. The ramps are of 1Fin.-thick timber on. steel angles, mounted on rigid hinges.

This Roadmaster trailer also features wind-down prop legs to give added safety when loading or unloading, mudwings, and a full lighting and reflector set.

Gliding Door Gear for PSV ANEW type of power-operated equipment, designed to

operate two-leaf doors on p.s.v. has been developed by G. D. Peters (Engineering) Ltd. The makers claim that the two-leaf door (four-leaf, double-folder-type doors are used on most p.s.v.) gives a neater and cleaner appearance and also contributes to safety by improving the driver's nearside visibility. Furthermore, the neat short linkages from the operating mechanism to the doors reduces wear on moving parts and gives positive rattle-free and draught-free sealing.
