Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BIFA represents the interests of UK freight carriers engaged in international work. Therefore, much of its work is in the UK, but it also represents the sector to HM Customs. Fiatre and other European groups, the Confederation of British Industry, Sitpro (a government agency simplifying international trade), the Institute of Export and others.

Peter Quantrill. director general, says "BIFA is one of a small number of key influences for this sector, and its views are well respected. Its work is particularly important now that so much legislation comes from Brussels."

Cross-border security issues are also becoming more much significant in this age of terrorism and mass immigration.

Much of BIFAS work is -below the radar. But what we do has impact even if much of it isn't visible," says Quantrill.

As well as representation, BIFA provides information and support for members, monitors trends in the sector and assists the general public on occasion. It promotes the activities of the freight forwarding sector and helps new import/exporters become established.

BIFA also offers training. Most of our training is very specific and at the sharp end. For instance, dangerous goods, security training, issues that are very relevant to our membership," says Quantrill.
