Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Hauliers believe VOSA needs to improve waiting lists for tests and ensure greater consistency at test stations.

These complaints have previously been reported by Gl,f, but this time the results come from a survey of 500 commercial vehicle operators, commissioned by VOSA's parent organisation, the Driver, Vehicle and Operator Group, and were undertaken by MORI.

Results show that larger operators are less satisfied with the organisation's service; almost half the operators with 20 or more HGVs are not satisfied with VIDSA's testing and licensing services. One in ten operators said standards applied by test stations are inconsistent and that their nearest station is awkward to deal with. Some 35% of respondents operating fleets of 20 or more vehicles said their test station uses a long booking time, while one in six operators is dissatisfied with test station opening hours, particularly larger operators.

Responding to the survey, a VOSA spokeswoman says that by undertaking the survey, the organisation is showing that it is taking positive steps to improve. "Aiso, people tend to remember the bad things when they are asked.'

However, she reiterates that VOSA does check consistency levels at test stations, and that it is addressing staffing issues in busy areas. 'Also, we do open longer in areas where there is a demand—operators just have to ask for it."

• EISA plans to roll-out a one-stop service on the Internet and via the telephone this summer, although 51% of respondents do not use the Internet. But 80% of respondents say they would welcome the one-stop service.
