Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Truck drivers blocked motorways and held go-slow convoys last Monday (16 June) in support of the Blue Ribbon campaign for British truck drivers held in overseas jails.

Demonstrations took place on the M8, M25, Dover port and Parliament Square backing the campaign initially launched by Emma Vasey to seek the release of her husband John. He is imprisoned in France after Customs found cannabis in a sealed pallet—which the consignment note listed as contain

ing ceramic tiles—that he had picked up from a regular Spanish client (CM 20-26 March).

"We had a fantastic day. So many people have helped and supported us. We have spent the time collecting signatures and handing out ribbons and posters," says Vasey.

Dave Dennis, who came down from Doncaster to join the Dover protest, adds: 'We have received overwhelming support from everyone around us. There has also been a lot of beeping and support from foreign drivers, which is encouraging. It's about getting the law changed to help drivers abroad."

Mi Bradford-based Prescott Transport is to launch a helpline and webslte for the family and friends of truck drivers imprisoned abroad.

The move comes following its role in the campaign for the release of local driver David Wilson, who was jailed in Greece for smuggling refugees (CM22-28 May).
