milk manufacturer MD Foods have voted "overwhelmingly" in support of a new package of improved terms and conditions after 18 months of negotiations (CM 5-11 June). According to the Transport & General Workers Union, 82% of the workforce, which includes about 300 drivers, gave the thumbs-up to the new agreement.
A new system for holiday pay will be introduced in a bid to speed up the process, and the company also increased its wage offer slightly for this year. The new deal will come into effect in the first week of July.
