• Lincolnshire Haulier Denby Transport is now running its fleet on 60-series low-profile tyres to comply with the French maximum height restriction of 4,5 metres.
The company's Montracon trailers have reverted to twin wheels with a forward deck height of 1.3m. The fifth wheel height is 1.16m but can be reduced to 1.08m. Director Dick Denby says: "We've seen a 12% reduction in fuel consumption but this won't happen unless the rear axle differential speed is correct. We haven't yet broken even on tyre costs."
Denby's core business is chemicals and delivering machinery for Caterpillar, Renault and John Deere_
