Stubs claims that no repaired components have had to be returned to the workshops since NCT started using it last year.
The worn brake camshafts bearing surfaces are built up with SW4 powder, a high grade alloy that produces a surface hardness of up to 34HRC. Deposition is carried out I using a Stubs Multi-Jet Kit which consists of and oxy-acei lene torch, a mixing chamb and a range of nozzles.
The powder is supplied plastic containers that scrE directly into the head of tl mixing chamber; depression a metering lever causes the d sired quantity of powder to fla into the gas stream which ce ries it through the nozzle and to the workpiece.
The method allows not on economic advantages — repai ing is cheaper than replacing but also allows repairs to be ea ried out at short notice withot having to wait for parts.
