Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Chris Tindall A HAULIER CLAIMING to be owed £15,000 after Derbyshire haulage irm Cooper Transport was sold in a pre-pack administration deal says he is on the verge of going bankrupt.

Matt Redfern says news of the irm’s troubles and subsequent sale to rival business Green GRP Pallet Network came out of the blue, leaving him on a knife-edge and concerned for his future.

Cooper entered administration on 30 May but was sold to Green GRP before it was declared insolvent (CM 5 July).

Administrators at Wilson Field say the pre-pack deal saved 16 jobs and kept the company alive, but Redfern says it has been at his expense.

“I was his dedicated subcontractor. I have to sort something out by the end of this month. I have just bought a new house. All I am bothered about is me and my family.

“I am on the knife-edge of going bankrupt,” he adds. “I am just hoping and praying and will probably have to go back on containers, even though the money is not good.

“The thing that upsets me the most is that it’s through no fault of my own.” The administrators say it is still too early to say if unsecured creditors will receive a dividend or not.

No one from parent company The Green Group, which has businesses in logistics, property development and commodities trading, and includes ex-Innovate boss Pete Osborne in its list of directors, had responded as CM went to press.
