Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

GROWTH TN THE trailer market in Eastern Europe has resulted in a shortage of axles in the West, according to UK consulting group CLEAR.

Across Europe, transport firms are buying huge numbers of new trailers resulting in suppliers running out of axles. Due to the high demand for used trailers in Eastern Europe, trailer fleets are being replaced early in the West. fuelling orders for new ones.

The largest market for used trailers in Eastern Europe is Russia, followed by Poland and Turkey these three countries account for more than 60% of the region's demand. Poland has witnessed the highest rate of growth and is now as large as the biggest Western European markets excluding Germany.

CLEAR believes a slowdown in Western European economies after 2010 will result in Eastern Europe also slowing, though he says this would be temporary as the regions will be setting new records for vehicle demand by the middle of the next decade.

Gary Beecroft, director of CLEAR, says: -These markets will grow for a very long time.

-It took Spain 15 to 20 years to reach the level of trailer utilisation seen in the rest of the ELT when it joined. However, future growth will be relatively modest compared to that seen from 2000 to 2006."

CLEAR's latest forecast predicts that almost 200,000 new trailers will be sold in Western Europe by the end of 2007.
