High Power and Large Carrying Capacity are Features of a New Chassis Expected in London in the Autumn.

AT the motor show held In Milan a new Chassis of high power and large capacity was shown for the first time by the Socie't4 Anonyme Adolphe Saurer, of Arbon, Switzerland. So far as we are aware, it has not yet been introduced into France or Great Britain. It is expected to be seen in Paris in the autumn and, therefore, may prove to be one of the attractions of the Saurer Commercial Vehicle's Co.'s exhibit at Olympia.

The new chassis has an 8i-litre six-cylindered engine, 110 mm. in the bore and with a piston stroke of 150 mm. The engine develops about 105 b.h.p. at a normal speed of 1,600 r.p.ra. The cylinders are cast in nionobloc form, with a detachable head. Rockeroperated overhead valves are US-ed. The inlet and exhaust manifolds are located on the same side of the

engine, the induction passages being thereby warmed by the exhaust gases.

The crankshaft is mounted on seven roller bearings. The engine bearers re,st on' rubber-silo:a absorbers. Ignition is by magneto, with automatic advance. A centrifugal air filter is fitted to the carburetter, and the latter is hot-jacketed -.from the 'exhaust. . Pliny circulation is employed in the cooling system and the engine is fitted with a centrifugal governor. A multiple disc dry-plate clutch isused. Suspensione both front and rear, Is by half-elliptic springs. The wheelbase is 5 rum 800 cs. (a little over 19 ft.) and the chassis will take bodywork up to an overall, length of 71 metres (over 241ft.). A very big steering lock is given, enabling the vehicle to turn in a radius a 81 metres (28.88 ft.).
