William Rodgers has announced the appointment of three new members to the board of the National Bus Company. They are: Frank Pointon, deputy chief executive of NBC: Ray Sandal!, secretary of NBC since its formation in 1969; George Carruthers, director of manpower since 1974.

Denis Racher, at present general manager of Portsmouth Passenger Transport Department, has been seconded by the Ministry of Overseas Development as manager of the newly-formed Seychelles Public Transport Corporation.

Mr Racher, who has been Portsmouth's general manager since 1973, will be responsible for developing a nationalised public transport service in the Seychelles and training a Seychellois manager to take over in two years' time.

Anthony Carrimore has appointed Angus Pye as managing director. Mr' Pye was formerly director and general manager of the Scottish division of SKF.

Peter Conolly has succeeded Ernest Horritt, as managing director of Duramin, the container manufacturers. Mr Conolly's new appointment is general manager and chief executive. He joined Duramin in 1951. Mr Horritt has become deputy chairman.

Obituary

We record with regret the deaths of Harry Tennant and Alex Jack.

Mr Tennant, who was 63, was until recently regional chief engineer of the National Bus Company's Midland and West and Wales and the iV1arches regions. He had previously been Ribble's chief engineer for 25 years.

Mr Jack was national sales manager for Don International and was 58.
