I would like to reply to Mr Syk letter -Tough talk on tende (CM, December 29).

He does not seem to unc stand how frustrating it can to an individual trying to obt a used psv, when the vehicli in a batch with nine others, E someone who is "approved" the company involved will s ure the batch by tender, sin; them up, sell the engines more than the cost of vehicles, and then sell the otl parts as profit. Where the gc vehicle is concerned, he weigh up the non-approved dividual and inflate his pr accordingly.

How he does not see vehi disposal contractors as a frai nity of middlemen complet baffles me. If he does not lieve that they are, I wonder h he explains any profit wh contractors make on batches vehicles bought by tender.

I am taking up the cudgel behalf of the auction system, I feel that it is merely tender for individual vehicles, and the general public may be a to get runners, and the dispo companies get vehicles for c posal such as non-runners.

I foresee no eventual o come of this subject.

ALAN WILLIS Runcorn,. Cheshire.
