Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TH"exigencies of war have been responsible for many unusual items of road-transport equipment, and not the least -interesting have been the many forms of special-purpose trailer which have been designed and built. The well-known concern of It. A. Dyson and Co., Ltd., Grafton Street, Liverpool, has made many contributions in trailer types, of which the one featured in the accompanying illustration is yet another example.

The chief feature of this trailer is its low-loading level, which is achieved by building the frame on the special Dyson wheel-race principle, thus largely eliminating the clearance usually required for the forecarriage. Not only does this principle achieve the desirable fea‘ure of low loading, but ft inrproves the general appearance, as will be appreciated from its picture.

There are 12 twin-tyred wheels arranged in three lines of eight tyres. The tyre dimensions are 29 ins. by 8 ins., and there are, of course, 24 in all. Each of the six axles is mounted on Woodhead trunnion-ended springs..

Arranged for use in tandem, each trailer is equipped with couplers at the rear, and fitted to the platform is a demountable holster. -All rear wheels are fitted with brakes of Girling manufacture, and a particular feature of interest is the use of the Bendix

Westinghouse air-brake system employing Clayton-Dewandre cylinders, This arrangement enables the brakes to be applied automatically in the event of a mishap with the towing vehicle, and, furthermore, the braking system is so designed as to apply brakes to two or more trailers.

Other points of interest in this new Dyson product are the provision of 'six jacking platforms, the use that has been made of the limited space available in which to fit so many tyres, and the roping rings which are sunk flush with the platform.

Other details are as follow:—Length, 18 ft.; 'width, 9 ft:', loading level, 3 ft. 3 los, laden;. capacity, 28-30 toils.
