• Aberdeen haulier Alistair Cooper has bought the first XLcabbed Foden 4000-Series artic in Scotland with a 4554 (339kW) Caterpillar engine.

Originally launched at Tipcon, the double-bunk XL cab offers generous storage space and 6ft 2in (1.8m) of headroom over the engine hump.

Foden's usual wide choice of powerplants includes Cummins, Caterpillar and Perkins engines from Cummins' 304hp (227kW) Mll to its 525hp (391kW) 14litre block. Transmissions are the usual Eaton/Rockwell options.

Cooper's choice for the 3.85m air-suspended 4455XL was the 455hp (339kW) 14-litre Cat unit with an Eaton 16-speed synchromesh box and 8.0 tonne front axle.

Tare weight is around 7.2 tonnes.

Cooper's Foden will haul a new Gray and Adams reefer trailer in Peterhead Transport livery outfit carrying fish between Aberdeen and Lancashire.
