Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

It was with some disappointment that I read the article on page 10 in CM 12-18 August about Britannia and the AA and the comments by Association of Vehicle Recovery Operators' president Steve Shinnock.

It is not that we disagree with Steve's comments, but over the past 10 years when AVRO has withdrawn from Commercial Motor Truckfest at Peterborough, it has been our association which has stepped in, free of charge, to fill the gap. We have carried out the recovery side of the show, this year with some 92 vehicles, and we will continue to do so, as we have a very good relationship with the organiser, Live Promotions.

We are the larger of the two associations, arid you do us a great disservice by not allowing us to comment on issues that relate to the recovery industry. After all, we have National Council members from all over the UK, with a wealth of experience in the industry, who run the association, so surely we must be worthy of some consultation on these issues.

Peter Cosby, Chairman, Road Rescue Recovery Association, Boston, Lincs.
