TWO drivers of Lep Transport, Ltd, Sunlight Wharf, Upper Thames Street, London, E.C.4, were each sentenced to four months' imprisonment at City, of London Guildhall last week for the attempted theft of cases of clocks.

Kenneth Charles Gammon, 95 Athenlay Road, Peckham, and Leslie Ernest Barber, 9 Fremantle Street, Walworth, pleaded guilty to charges of larceny servant. They offered no defence, Evidence was given that Gammon had instructions to collect seven cases of clocks from Bishopsgate goods depot. He arranged to meet Barber in Rotherhithe where five cases were transferred to Barber's lorry. Each case contained clocks to a total value of £200.

The transfer, however, was observed by the police, who arrested the men in the act. Defendants were tried and sentenced the following day.

HOLMES TAKE FIRST PRIZE ATthe Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show at Blackpool last week, Holmes (Preston), Lid„ won the first prize for the best arrangement of commercial vehicles displayed with their exhibition of Homalloy

The second prize went to the Group of Lancashire Main Bedford Dealers for their display of Bedford vehicles. The secretary of the group is Mr. R. Highfield, of Imperial Garages (Blackpool), Ltd.

R.H.A. AND DISPOSAL

THE chairman's committee of the Road Haulage Association met in London on Monday to consider further the disposal of British Road Services' vehicles and to review the arrangements for the conference at Harrogate in October. •They decided not to issue a statement.
