Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

KNOWN as the Lli-Lift Hoist, a new -production by the Wood Hydraulic Hoist and Body Co., of Detroit, has just been placed on the market, being primarily intended for the use of coal dealers. This new hoist enables the body to be raised before tipping, allowing the use of a long, telescopic chute for depositing loads of coal in buyers' cellars cleanly and in a minimum of time.

A body fitted with this hoist can claim to be something more than a high elevation tipper. A side lever permits of three different actions—high elevation, medium elevation, or tipping without elevation. This body can also be used for promptly unloading other commodities besides coal.

The Hi-Lift hoist gives an impression of simplicity in construction, and its clean-cut appearance is by no means de

ceptive. The hoisting mechanism beneath the body is of straight structural steel members, giving great strength, and yet ample space is allowed for beneath the body for the housing of the telescopic chute.

This is a type of vehicle which has quite a vogue in America, where the conditions pertaining to its use have not, perhaps, a counterpart in this country, but there is little question that for certain classes of work, where it is most desirable to secure a high elevation of tip, it has much to recommend its use.

The illustration which we publish gives a good idea of the capabilities of the

vehicle, shows the general arrangement of the tipping mechanism and demon. strates clearly the strength of the body supports. The Wood Hydraulic Hoist and Body Co. are represented in this country by the Hydraulic Hoist Co., of 182, Lord Street, Southport.
