Aztec fields a construction staff of nine. This sounds unusual for a CV component manufacturer, but there is a good reason: the firm also specialises in installing weighbridges. Since 1996 it has been contracted to calibrate all of Vosa's 67 weighbridges.
Weighbridges are also built for operators. Typically, 54m2 ofground is needed to install an Aztec weighbridge as well as a flatness of +/-2mm.
With such intricate measurements, skill is important. The only way you can hit that is to have people who are very experienced in doing the job," says Gresham.
Typically, it takes three to five personnel to carry out the construction work, and a pair of engineers to calibrate the weighbridge. MD Keith Gresham (pictured, right) and sales manager Derek Hack pay a visit to the site before work begins. All told, the entire process takes eight weeks -although on one occasion, a project was completed in just three weeks.
