Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

From Our Industrial Correspondent

LONDON TRANSPORT was given a plain warning last week of trouble ahead if it goes on with its plan to introduce more one-man bUses or, alternatively, hand routes over to private Operators, The warning came from an unofficial mass meeting of London busmen when the organizers claimed the support of men at 42 garages—nearly half of the 100 in the London Transport area and the majority of the more militant central London branches.

'Industrial Action' The meeting decided to ask each of the local branches to consider "industrial action" if the L.T.B. goes on with the scherne. What they had in mind became clear when some of the leaders spoke of guerilla strikes. These would probably be confined at first to the garages affected by any changes.

The feeling against handing over routes to private operators is if anything even stronger than that against one-man buses. The unofficial leaders call it an attempt at blackmail or at denationalizing another part of the transport service. They claim that it would lead to " pirate " services and that it wouldintroduce into the nationalized transport industry the Beeching principle of putting profitability before service to the public.

Aberdeen's Bus Station I-1 A BERDEEN'S long-awaited ultra

modern bus station in Guild Street opened this week. The original date for the opening was last summer, but the weather played havoc with progress ever since the work started in October, 1961, and finishing touches were completed only recently.

With the proposed closure of so many branch lines Alexander's yellow and cream buses will be playing a bigger part in the rural Life of the community. A central bus depot in Aberdeen has long been the hope of the company.
