Berry Wiggins Ltd, the Kentbased vehicle servicing subsidiary of KCA International, has appointed Alec Porter as managing director of Berry Wiggins and its main operating subsidiaries BW Engineering Ltd, BW Storage Ltd, and Kingsnorth Industrial Estates Ltd. Mr Porter was previously director and general manager of branch operations for Crane Fruehauf.

John Lawrence becomes director, quality control, for the Perkins Engines Group, reporting directly to chairman Mike. Hoffman. Since 1976, Mr Lawrence has been director, operations engineering.

The National Freight Company has reorganised its finance function to conform to the requirements of a limited company, and J. C. H. Mellor, formerly group financial controller of British Road Services, takes the new post of corporate treasurer. A. J. Morrish, formerly chief accoun tant of NFC, becomes corporate chief accountant, and R. 1-1. Gerlach, formerly finance director of .Tempco International, has been appointed ,financial controller. They will all report to the NFC's finance director J. K. Watson.

Giltspur Bullens Shipping Ltd has strengthened its management team by appointing Charles Kay as managing director. He retains his position as managing director of the subsidiary Giltspur Bullens Airfreight.

W. N. Menzies-Wilson becomes chairman of Ocean Transport & Trading Ltd, following the retirement of Sir Lindsay Alexander.

A. J. Chaston becomes deputy chairman of Howells Group Garages, the South Wales distributor of British Leyland vans and lorries, as from January 1, 1981. Mr Chaston, who retires as managing director, will be succeeded by J. H. Fletcher.

Geoffrey Buckley has been appointed group managing director of Edbro (Holdings) Ltd. He was previously a director of Stone-Platt Industries Ltd and before that a director of Ford Motor Co Ltd.

Coventry Climax Ltd has appointed Patrick Lister as deputy chairman, George Simpson as managing director, and Barry Childs as sales and marketing director.
