I think your Editorial "Industrial blackmail" (CM October 4) was outstanding and timely.

What a tragedy; and what a shocking state of affairs now exist! After 130 years of trading and respect, Wells and Son (London) Ltd now terminates due to "Left-wing" pressures and practically anarchy. Nearly the same happened to Heatons, Craddocks, Panalpina and Midland Cold Store. And a number of smaller people have actually been driven out of business. Your comments re the Road Haulage Association are very much to the point and, again, timely.

You did a first-class job — but how sad it is that this happens to such an outstanding ex-chairman, who was not afraid to speak his mind. Just as if it was revenge against someone so competent.

Please, CM, continue with the good work.
