THE new model of the ShefflexSimplex commercial chassis is designed,for 30 cwt. ,loads, or, when used as a. passenger vehicle, to accommodate

14 passengers. It is based upon the 40 cwt. vehicle produced after the Armistice, but is 1 ft. shorter in the wheelbase. It' has a 25 h.p. fourcylindered engine, driving through a leather-faced cone clutch, three-speed gearbox and solid propeller shaft to a worm-driven back axle, the casting for the last-named being of the pot type and being a very substantial structure. The wheels are of cast-steel, with hollow spokes, and are equipped with solid tyres --twin tyres on the rear wheels. The foot brake acts on the rear main shaft of the gearbox and is readily adjustable, whilst the brakes on the rear wheels are of the internal-expanding order and are of ample strength. There is a flexible disc universal joint between the engine and the gearbox and a special type of joint between the gearbox and the worm shaft, designed with large wearing surfaces and arranged to be oil retaining. The wheelbase of the 30 cwt. Sheiflex is 11 ft., providing a platform length of 9 ft. 2 ins. The price of the chassis is £690. Special attention has been paid to ensure accessibility to every part of the chassis when repairs are being undertaken.
