FOUR Foden vehicles with concretemixing equipment have been put into service by the Penmaentnawr and Welsh Granite Co.. Ltd., to distribute ready-mixed concrete in the Merseyside area. Each vehicle takes a 51-ton load in wet or dry form, and the agitator mixer is driven by a: thrce-cylindered oil engine. The concrete is agitated at 2-3 r.p.m.. and cement may he mixed at 6-10 r.p.m. while the vehicle is running.
There are three water tanks. One. Of 100 gal.. provides mixing water, whilst the other two, each of 15 gal., are used for tempering cement delivered to site and for washing out the vehicle after unloading.
U.A.S. GIVEN J.CJ. TRAFFIC 'THE Northern Licensing Authority I has granted United Automobile Services, Ltd.. permission to carry workers from the Cleveland area to the big new chemical works at Wilton of Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd. 1.C.I. backed the operators' application, which was opposed by Saltburn Motor Service:,, for whom Mr. S. Nixon slated that in 1951 U.A.S could not operate staff services. His clients had undertaken them, sometimes at a loss, and it was riot fair that U.A.S. should apply now that the traffic position looked like improving.
