• A transport boss for an NHS trust is launching a final appeal after being dismissed amid accusations of various illicit fund transfers.
David Whitaker, former transport manager at Dumfries and Galloway Primary Care NHS Trust, will present evidence to the Trust's appeals body in the next couple of weeks.
His contract was terminated on 5 May after a number of weeks on sick leave. His deputy, David Marchbank, was dismissed in March. Both are accused of transferring sponsorship money and money from the trust's truck rental arm into separate accounts.
Whitaker, who is also the subject of a police inquiry, insists the activities were "all above board'.
