Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

JOSEPH DAVID Owen (known as De Owen), trading as JD Owen Transport, has been forced to downsize and place his freight forwarding business, JD Owen Transport Ltd, into adminstration.

The Flintshire, Walesbased freight forwarder entered administration on 25 February, with John Titley and Andrew Faxon of Leonard Curtis appointed as joint administrators.

Dai Owen tells CM: "Rates kept gong down and when [that was]

coupled with a few customers going bust, we could not afford to keep going."

He continues: "I've never had to go down the administration route before, but there was just no work on the freight forwarding side.

"The government has done nothing to help at all."

The forwarding arm ran several vehicles as well. Owen adds: 'Fuel prices have been our killer, yet we can't go anywhere

without it. We need a rebate if companies are to survive," The firm was also hit hard by the closure of the lndesit factory in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire last July, which had been a source of work for three years.

As a result of the administration, 10 redundancies have been made, but, fortunately, Owen says "the list of creditors is not too bad".

JD Owen Transport is unaffected by the administration, but is also struggling with diesel costs and a lack of work. The fleet size has been halved to six HGVs and the workforce has also been cut.
