Alcoa will present the first forged aluminium wide-base 17.00x22.51n wheel with a 67mm inset for 495/45 R 22.5 tyres (see above). This wheel replaces two conventional drive-axle 9.00x22.5 wheels. It weighs 33kg, compared with more than 80kg for two gin steel wheels. Alcoa has also developed a wheel for light and middleweight trucks. It's a 17.5x6.75in with 6 bolt holes to take various tyre sizes from 205 to 245/70R 17.5. The wheel can also be mounted in place of 6.00x17.5in wheels in accordance with ETRTO wheel/tyre compatibility.

Mercedes Unimog division will show the first right-hand-drive examples of the new heavy-duty all-terrain machines: the U3000, U4000 and U5000. Equipped with a Euro-3 diesel engine with outputs from 150-218hp, the new Unimog also features Telligent transmission, pneumatically selectable all-wheel drive and an integral transfer case which provides eight forward and eight reverse gears.
