Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Does a limited company whose business activity is running a racing car team need an 0-licence for its trailers used to transport cars to each circuit?

Mark Guiver Asset Portfolio Manager Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division Much will depend on the overall weight of the combination of towing vehicle and trailer. The operator's licence legislation applies to "goods vehicles" and trailers used to carry goods. The requirement extends to those who do not transport goods for hire-orreward but do so in connection with their own business.

A racing car and all the equipment that goes with it will certainly be classed as "goods" and transporting the car to and from race circuits will be classed as "for or in connection with any trade or business".

The only exemption is if the combined permitted maximum weight of the towing vehicle and trailer did not exceed 3,500kg. Anything above that requires a restricted 0-licence.
